Which cookies we use
Only the technical session ones, the ones that keep you signed in after you have logged in. They expire on their own and tell nobody anything about what you read. We do not ask permission for these, because without them the site would not work — and for those, the law does not require it.
So why do we ask you anything
Because sooner or later we will want to know which stories get read, and on that day we would rather already have your answer than ask for it in a hurry the day after installing the tool. Until then your choice switches nothing on and nothing off: it is simply on file. Until 19 August 2026 this page said there was no banner because there was nothing to consent to. That was true, and it changed when the banner did.
What happens if you decline
Nothing, today. And on the day a measurement exists, it will not load on this browser: that is not a promise written here, it is a condition in the code — whoever adds it will have to read your answer before being able to switch it on. You can change your choice at the bottom of this page, whenever you like.
What we do not use, and will not use anyway
No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no analytics that identify people. The consent we ask for covers an aggregate measure of what gets read, not a profile of who you are.
Local storage
If you save stories without an account, the list lives in your browser's local storage. It is not a cookie and it is never sent anywhere: you can clear it by clearing the site's data.
